The Local Officers Compensation Commission was established consistent with the provisions of Act8 of the Public Acts of 1972 of the State of Michigan, and is responsible for recommending the salaries of the Mayor and City Council. The Commission consists of five members who are registered electors of the city. They meet in January of odd years to review and recommend any salary adjustments. Their recommendation is then forwarded to City Council who can either vote to reject the recommendation, or take no action resulting in the recommendation taking effect.
