The Helm (formerly Services for Older Citizens) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, non-residential senior community center dedicated to making the Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods areas a great place to grow older. The organization, open to all citizens over age 60 and their caregivers in the Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods, offers programs and services including Meals on Wheels, transportation (through the PAATS program), exercise classes, fellowship and social gatherings, minor home repair services, Meals on Wheels, tax preparation, transportation -- everything to keep older adults informed and engaged.
Pointe Area Assisted Transportation Services (PAATS) is a transportation service provided to residents of Harper Woods or Grosse Pointes who are 60 years or older and / or disabled.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fee to use the service has been eliminated. There will be no fee from January 25th to April.
Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance
All passengers riding on PAATS and returning after 3 p.m. must make a return appointment.
All appointments must be made by 1 p.m.

Senior Club meetings are held on the first Monday of the month from September thru June. New members are always welcome. Contact President Joan Mannino at 313-886-0007 for more information.
Meetings are currently being held at the Harper Woods Library.
Every Thursday Pinochle and other card games are played from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. You do not have to be a senior club member to play. All are welcome. Held at the Harper Woods Library.
