Effective Tuesday, July 5, passengers will begin paying fares on Pointe Area Assisted Transportation Services (PAATS). Fares have been waived since spring 2020.
The new fees are:
• $1 each way within Harper Woods and the Grosse Pointes
• $2 each way within the area bounded by 8 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road and Kelly
Road to Gratiot Avenue
• $3 each way to
St. John Surgery Center
Henry Ford Main Campus
Detroit Medical Center
V.A. Hospital
City County Building
The New Center
Fares remain free for the Friday Shop the Gratiot Loop services which takes riders to
the Gratiot shopping corridor which includes Walmart, Meijer, Kroger, Target and
Macomb Mall.
PAATS riders must be a resident of Harper Woods or the Grosse Pointes and at least
60 years of age or disabled adult. It is a curb-to-curb service. Passengers are picked up
at their home, taken to their appointment, picked up and brought back to their home. All
buses are sanitized before and after each pickup and at the end of every day. All riders
and drivers must wear a mask while in the bus. Physical distancing is maintained within
the bus as well.
All appointments must be made at least two days in advance. To reserve a ride, call 313-
394-9712 Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The PAATS mission is to provide safe and reliable transportation, ensuring area
residents continue to live their daily lives with independence and dignity.
The Helm at the Boll Life Center, located at 158 Ridge Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, is a
501(c)3 nonprofit, non-residential senior community center dedicated to making the
Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods areas a great place to grow older. The organization
serves as an essential resource to older adults in those communities by providing
opportunities and services in the areas of health, nutrition, education and recreation,
such as transportation, Meals on Wheels, home maintenance, social activities, health
